Hello friends of Cam Home and Garden
At the shop we’re loving sharing our new veg seedlings and plants. Many can be planted out already but some need a bit of extra shelter under glass or on a windowsill. Don’t forget to check with us!
Sundry winds and showers blowing through means plants may need a bit of extra staking… Keep a look out for gangly plants and give them a bit of extra support. We have bamboo canes and other types of stakes.
And if you have some bare patches in your border – we have just the thing: heuchera, fuchsia and more, all hardy enough to cope outside right away.
Herbs – new varieties in stock
All the usual suspects (and pretty much a whole Simon and Garfunkel song) are in stock: Rosemary, Lavender, Thyme, Oregano, Parsley, Tarragon and more.
We also have Borage (bees love it and it will tempt these pollinators into your garden to do their magic!). We have some gorgeous orange Calendula (pot marigold). And Lovage which is often used in Romanian and Polish cooking – fancy trying out some Eastern European recipes? These herbs will add authenticity!
Many are ready to plant straight out – check with us when purchasing!
We’ve still got fruit bushes
We still have plenty of fruit bushes – currants, gooseberries, raspberry canes and more.
You don’t need a ‘fruit bed’ for these – you can dot them in your borders for a more naturalistic look, if you prefer.
Plant them once, get some tips on pruning from us (we stock secateurs, of course!) and you’re set for years of harvesting.
These fruits are often expensive in the shops: growing your own is a great money saver over the longer term!
Trays of veg seedlings
We are also getting a broad range of vegetable seedlings in, as the year progresses.
In stock now are lovely trays of veg plants (12 cells) including:
- Cut and Come Again lettuce
- Rainbow Chard
- Mixed beetroot varieties
- Brussel sprouts
- Broad Beans
By the time you read this we’ll be expecting more deliveries, and an even wider selection…
Tomato seedlings for under glass
Tomato seedlings, with fragrant leaves as you brush against them, seem to give a hint of summer long before they are fruiting.
Plan ahead now by growing some under glass or on a windowsill. Plant them out once the danger of frost has passed – usually well into May.
Everything you need to sow, pot on, etc…
As well as the plants themselves we stock all you need to get started (and carry on!)!
- seed trays (including eco friendly ones)
- compost of various types
- small and large garden tools
- gloves
- watering cans
Not sure how to start? We are generous with our advice too – no question is too daft!
Troughs for gorgeous displays
Come and see our variety of well-made and durable wooden troughs.
They are the perfect way to display your plants, and are accessible for people who struggle to bend down to weed or harvest their fruit and veg.
We can deliver! Call and check, or ask us in the the shop.
Seeds – lots of varieties
It’s great seed planting weather at the moment.
The packets all explain clearly whether a seed needs to be started indoors or if it can be planted straight out (and when). If you’re not familiar with reading the packet info don’t hesitate to check with us – we’re always happy to help.
We specially like to get new gardeners started the right way! Please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank you!
We love this time of year – blossom, new shoots, lots of jobs, a bit of sunshine to get you outside… And we love helping you get off to a great start with your gardening projects for the year.
As always we are happy to order in items if we can – just come and ask!
Warmest wishes and thanks for supporting our local shop!
