Pumpkin carving fun!
You’ll need a strong ice cream scoop for hollowing out the flesh, and some sharp knives, or maybe a skewer or a screw driver, to decorate your pumpkin… We have them all in stock – just drop by to pick up what you need.

What to do with the innards?
No need to waste the flesh of the pumpkin – there are many ways you can turn it into a tasty meal. Check out these recipes for roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin and ginger jam and roast pumpkin slices with feta and thyme.

Leaf rakes, garden waste bags, and gardening gloves
A bit of tidying now will keep your garden looking good over the winter – and it’s not too late for some bulbs to go in. We have a wide selection in stock and are happy to advise on how deep to plant them and which areas of garden they would be most happy in.

Protect your garden furniture
Wooden benches, chairs and tables need a bit of protection from the winter – a coat of teak or linseed oil or preservative paint is advised at least once a year.
Steve’s chair leg tip!
Steve, our colleague, has a clever trick – fill a yoghurt cup or margarine tub half full with teak or linseed oil (yes – we sell both!) and stand the legs of your garden furniture in it one by one for a few hours each. The oil will soak up into the wood and give the feet of your wooden furniture protection from winter damp.

You can also extend the life of garden furniture with rain proof covers in a variety of sizes – some are even large enough to cover several items with one cover.
